#An Evening With… Dior

Ever wanted to sip on some bubbly, discuss the latest trends and have your very own personal stylist shop for you and leave you feeling fabulous in a new outfit? Well, guess what? Now you can. Earlier this year I visited Intu Lakeside in Essex for my very own personal stylist experience and as a thank you, I was invited back by the lovely head stylist, Carlene, for a special evening with in collaboration with House of Fraser: Dior, introducing their new lip line, Dior Addict #shinedontbeshy. I must admit, Dior isn’t a brand I had ever gone to for makeup but I was super impressed with the quality and design of the products I saw on the night.

We was greeted with Prosecco and Macarons (chocolate ones are a definite favourite) and spent the evening chatting all things trending and the new lipstick line. Also on offer were an array of nibbles including goodies from Millie’s Cookies and some alcoholic chocolates!

I sat myself in the chair with the Dior counter staff and relaxed into the process. I always find makeup counter staff to be unapproachable and snooty but the lovely ladies from House of Fraser were welcoming and passionate about the products. Choosing a colour category from Red, Pinks, Nudes and Coral and using the Dior Match Made service, the perfect lip shade for my skin tone was selected. I chose coral as it’s a comfort zone for me, although looking back now, perhaps I should have been more adventurous and chosen red. Before applying the lipstick, a clear lip liner was used which I thought was great – I actually didn’t know these existed and I’ll definitely be picking it up.  The concept seems so much easier than owning different colours to match the lipsticks you own. Although categorised as lipsticks, I would have described it as more a balm and compare them to the Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters. Dior describes the lipsticks as having a ‘ultra-moisturizing soft core runs the full length of the stick‘ which acts as a top coat and the oils within it add shine and moisture. My lips definitely felt soft and looking dewy when wearing the lipstick and the colour range provided was spectacular with something to suit everybody, however, I wasn’t compelled to part £26.50 for the little tube of goodness. Dior also use the Match Made service on not only their lipsticks, but foundations, blushers and other makeup products too.

As the evening filtered out, the lovely ladies of Intu Lakeside’s personal shopper lounge announced the winners to their giveaway and I was lucky enough to win a bottle of Dior Sauvage which I have kindly gifted to my boyfriend. Campaigned by the ever so handsome, Johnny Depp, I can’t even describe how good this Eau De Toilette smells. If you are near a Dior counter, be sure to smell it and treat the man in your life to a bottle of Christmas. Dior at House of Fraser also kindly distributed some goody bags containing samples of some of their popular perfumes and makeup pieces. I’ll definitely be going back to Dior for a makeup splurge.

I’d like to thank Carlene at Intu Lakeside for the invite to this event. I will be checking myself back into the personal shopper lounge for any big events that require a new outfit. The personal shopper experience is completely free and in no way are you pressured to make any purchases. It’s great for everybody from old to young, men or women, it doesn’t matter. Once you are eased into the session, it’ll feel like shopping with your best friend.. just with a little professional advice.
