Who travels all the way to Paris for the day? Me, apparently! Dragging myself out of bed at half 2 in the morning, I hopped on the Eurostar to the city of love with my very best friends and spent the day exploring the sights and indulging in plenty of good food. I’d like to sit and write about my time in Paris, but I think the pictures speak for themselves. After a very early start, we simply aimed to visit the tourist attractions including the Eiffel Tower, The Lourve, and the Notre Dame. When I say visit, I mean we stood outside, taking photo, opting not to walk up the attractions because of excessive queuing – if you thought London was bad, head to Paris.
The inside of the Notre Dame Cathedral was absolutely beautiful. I wish we had walked up it to see the views from above as I imagine they were spectacular. We gave snails and frogs legs a miss, but we did tuck into a large cheesy pizza, strawberry motijo’s and a sweet treat at a local cafe. The Paris train was an experience to say the least as we had ended up on a local line instead of a Metro and after all the confusion, we opted for an open top bus tour instead. This cost £20 for an all day ticket and you could hop on and off as much as you like which was a great way of seeing all the sites that the city has to offer.
Overall, I had a fabulous day in Paris and it is well worth visiting but I wouldn’t spend week hear – long weekend maximum. Beyond the beautiful buildings and iconic landmarks, I felt Paris was crowded, a little rough in the more residential areas and overrated. Also, are all french people grumpy? Whilst I definitely wouldn’t want to be proposed to in Paris like the cliche says, everybody should visit once.
Have you been to Paris? If so, what did you think?
