If you haven’t read already, I recently went on a fabulous cruise to Norway and this port was my absolute favourite stop of the week, the beautiful village of Geiranger. Geiranger is a small tourist village in Western Norway that will give you the perfect postcard picture of the Fjords. The picture really speaks for itself and doesn’t even do it’s breathtaking views justice.
This was the only port where we had to reach land by tender which meant my nan had to stay on board the ship for this stop although she happily admired the views from the ship deck. Tender means that you climb down from the ship into a small petrol boat which takes you to land. It was well organised and we managed to hop on the first boat out.
Again, we didn’t book any of the ship tours but there was a bus running anyway to the 2 main view points in Geiranger at a much cheaper rate than the ship charged. One of the trips I wish I had booked was the kayaking as I imagine the views were incredible looking up to the mountain tops.. maybe next time as I will definitely be heading back here. We were so lucky to have such wonderful weather as although it was a little cold, the sun shining was glorious.
Another option to the bus trip were small smart cars and buggy’s available to hire which looked a super fun way to explore the village by yourself. There wasn’t much in the immediate vicinity apart from a small cafe serving cake & drinks and also a couple of tourist shops selling souvenirs. After exploring and grabbing our photo ops, we headed back to ship for a quick hot tub dip.
I will definitely be heading back to this picture perfect village to explore more as I’m sure there are some more sights to be seen.
