Held at the stunning Layer Marney Tower in Essex, the South East Bloggers Club launch night saw local brands and business network with all genres of local bloggers. After picking up my good Essex blogger friend, Hannah at Hannatalks, we headed to the venue (in a rather bumpy car ride involving stand off sheep). We were welcomed by the girls behind South East Bloggers Club and gifted with a great goodie bag filled with details about all of the brands on show at the event. On offer were prosecco cocktails, Shaken Udder Milkshakes and orange juice as well as a range of canapés, crisps and cakes supplied by local brands.
There were a great variety of brands to network and chat too with a company suitable for every type of blog genre. Our first stop was Betty Booths, an photo booth hire company perfect for weddings and parties. Betty Booth’s had some of the best props for their Photo Booth that I had ever seen, with signs and speciality items suitable depending on the occasion. The ladies running the booth were so friendly and welcoming and encouraged us to use outrageous props and have fun with it!
Next up was an incredibly lovely lady from The Brainwave Centre. Brainwave is a charity based in Witham that offers support to families and children with disabilities, aiming for them to achieve independence by improving their mobility and communication through education and physical therapies. Brainwave often organise fundraising events so please do check them out if you are in the area.
We began to gravitate towards the tasty food on offer so stopped at Lilly Puds – an independent family company producing delicious Christmas puddings all year round. Lilly Puds offer a gluten free option as well as yummy brand sauce or sticky toffee sauce to accompany the pudding.
Perrywood Garden Centre were also on hand to offer their treats for tasting. Perrywood is a plant nursery in Tiptree and has always been one of my favourite places to visit. As well as everything you need to keep your garden and household green, they offer great homeware and gifts and the cafe provides delicious food. I tried their chocolate courgette vegan cake and if everything vegan tastes that good then where do I sign up?
After filling up our tummies on cakes, it was time to burn off some of those calories with the guys at Garden Games Hire UK. There’s always an excuse for a garden game at any party and I fell in love with the Strike a Light Game which reminded me of the spider stomp game you find at a seaside pier. They have a whole range of products from giant jenga, interactive games, bouncy castles and more!
One of the most unique brands at the event was Secret Hamper. Their mantra is to ‘make the world a better place, one box at a time’. The idea is that a person or a company can send a box full of goodies to a person, or place to put a smile of someones face. I love this idea and could think of nothing more special than receiving a tailor made box of essentials or treats to cheer you up. Secret Hamper put us to the test to feature a poem in celebration of World Poetry about their boxes so here it goes!
Roses are red, Violets are blue
I’ve got a surprise package for you
There’s a knock at the door, Who could it be
What’s in the box you say, as you open it with glee
Something for a student, A new mother too
Or just a big box of treats to say I love you
If you need a little gift, don’t flop like a zero
Send a secret hamper, and you’ll be a mega hero
If you are wedding crazy like me and based in Essex, you’ll have heard of Prested Hall, one of the most stunning venues for a wedding, or even just a spa day with the ladies. Prested has a stunning spa offering treatments for a relaxing day or extend your stay in one of their self catering apartments with breakfast brought to your door. If you are engaged, then head over to their next wedding fair to fall in love with the stunning grounds or grand reception room.
As I have vouched for the 100th time this year to get fit, Results with Lucy were on hand to talk to us about their packages and plans available to enable a healthier lifestyle. I am a big fan of Lucy herself and I have heard a lot of good things about the fitness regime. I’ve tried going to the gym, to bootcamp, to classes and I’d much rather opt for something I can follow at home.
Thank you to all of the incredible brands and to South East Bloggers Club for putting together this event, and to Layer Marney Tower for hosting. It was so great to discover new local businesses and meet great new bloggers with similar interests and passions.
